Game-Time Temperatures

Includes all games since 2000, six games from 1986-1999, 219 out of 274 games from 1962 to 1985, and some notable games prior to 1962, with some exceptions (see Notes and Issues). All times Central.

• * In the absence of an official game-time temperature, the high temperature according to official weather records for the day or as close to game time as possible has been used.
• Outside temperatures for games in domes are not included. The 2002 Big 12 Championship Game in Reliant/NRG stadium in Houston is listed as 54 degrees since the roof was open.
• Brief to full box scores are available on OU's website from 1999-present, and most contain temperature from 2000-present (see Issues below).
• Media guides from 1963 to 1986 include temperature when summarizing the last meeting for opponents from that season.
• Media guides from 1979 to present include recaps or box scores for the previous season's games, but do not include temperature.
• The 110 degrees for the 1963 USC game may have been a field-level temperature since that's how it was reported in the Daily Oklahoman game recap. According to the National Weather Service archives, the official high temperature at LA International Airport was 104 (about eight miles away from the Coliseum, but time of day unknown), and in the downtown LA area it was 106 (about three miles away).
• The Oklahoma City forecast high for the 1983 Ohio State game was 94. In Oklahoma City, it was 93 at 2 PM, 95 at 3 PM, and 96 at 4 PM, and 95 at 5 PM.
• For the 1985 Oklahoma State game (aka "Ice Bowl"), the wind chill at game time was 10. The temperature fell to 23 with a -4 wind chill at halftime.
• The 101 degrees for the 1989 Arizona game was reported in the Arizona Star as the field-level temperature, but as the "kickoff" temperature in the Daily Oklahoman game recap. The weather page in the Arizona Star listed the high temperature as 102 which presumably happened several hours prior to kickoff.
